Frequently Asked Questions

HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR FOOTBALL OR CHEERLEADING?
Online registration is located right on our home page. Children must be at least 5 years old by 7/31.

Financial aid is available for qualifying families. Visit www.york-seaford.org/teaglefund for more information on this scholarship.

WHEN DOES PRACTICE BEGIN FOR FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADING?
In July, practice runs 4-5 days a week from 6 - 7:30 or 8 pm.  When school starts, practice adjusts to 3-4 days a week. Cheerleading practices can vary (typically 2-3 days per week). Ask your child's coach for specifics on their practices.

WHERE IS PRACTICE LOCATED?
Practice and home games are played at our home field: George K. Teagle field directly behind Seaford Elementary School. Parking is located at the front of the school.

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DOES MY CHILD NEED FOR FOOTBALL?
All Football players need cleats and a mouth piece, which can be purchased at the concessions stand. You may also want to buy a practice jersey. All other football equipment including practice and game pants, game socks, pads, helmet, chin strap and jersey will be provided by the league.

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DOES MY DAUGHTER NEED FOR CHEERLEADING PRACTICE?
All girls need sneakers and athletic shorts and t-shirts. Hair bows will be given out by coaches or team moms. Distribution of sneakers will be announced later. All uniforms are distributed by squad prior to the first game of the season.

IS FOOTBALL PRACTICE EVER CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS?
Practice for football is rarely cancelled due to weather conditions. Football is played in all weather, except for thunder storms or flooding. Practice is on unless you hear from your coach or team mom via email before 5 p.m.

IS CHEERLEADING PRACTICE EVER CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS?
Yes, it can be if practice is outside. You will notified via our mass email system or your coach.

DO I NEED TO STAY AT THE FIELD WITH MY CHILD DURING PRACTICE?
Both cheerleading and football are VERY athletic sports. We ask that a parent or designated adult to stay at the field during practice. If you will not personally be at the field, please check in with your Head Coach or Team Mom to inform them regarding the designated adult.

HOW MANY GAMES ARE IN THE REGULAR SEASON?
This can vary. We typically have a 10 game season with 5 home games. Games are 4x15min. quarters.

IF I HAVE QUESTIONS BEFORE THE SEASON, WHO DO I ASK?
